Project Description: | The one-story limestone structure was restored and renovated to house the offices of Laborde and Associates, P.C., CPA’s.
The original Ruhnke house is one of San Antonio’s pre-railroad era limestone structures. The project preserves an exceptionally historic and culturally significant structure. It is a wonderful and distinctive example of Texas limestone structures that were built along the main mercantile routes in San Antonio during its industrialization development in the second half of the 19th century. The restoration work included replacement of the deteriorated metal roof with a new standing seam metal roof system, extensive exterior and interior limestone masonry repair, the replacement and/or repair of damaged exterior wood siding, new interior gypsum partitions, restoration of existing interior wood ceilings, complete restoration of all wood doors and windows and the installation of new electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. 2002 San Antonio Conservation Society Award. |
